Mineral crystals use a similar material to windowpane glass and were developed for watches as a harder alternative to acrylic. Mineral crystals are still susceptible to scratches but less so than acrylic, however it is not possible to buff out these scratches as it is with acrylic. Mineral glass is not as shatter resistant as acrylic but does offer greater transparency and clarity. "I should have researched more. The watch does not have date window. The stopwatch button does NOT control the sweep second hand. Stopwatch seconds is indicated by the small dial at 6 o’clock, unlike by the large sweep hand as normally expected. Luminous dial and hands fairly good. Price OK. Chronographs in general, across manufacturers, have declined in recent years. My 50 year old Omega Speedmaster still hard to beat."
