Acrylic lens are a specialised form of plastic akin to Plexiglass and were commonly used in early to mid-20th century watches. It is a softer material that can be more prone to scratches but conversely is very shatter-resistant. Given its softness any scratches though can be buffed out. Acrylic lens are synonymous with vintage-inspired timepieces and thus can be found on our Marlin and Q Timex collections.

"Expedition Camper 38mm Fabric Strap Watch . . . I owned one of these Expedition watches with the fabric strap - emphasis on fabric strap - for the better part of a decade while working outside, in all kinds of weather, driving a truck and moving trailers for a major automaker. . . . When considering practicality and pure comfort, this is the best option. This is the watch that can stand up to anything you can throw at it - autowork, farming, golf - and then withstand a good cleaning in order to come back for more punishment. . ."
"I'm 71 and this is the ONLY watch I will wear??? It's a little bit more expensive than when I started buying them in 1972; but "it does take a lickin and keeps on stickin". Can't really find them anymore at retail stores or mall, like you use too."
"As each of my grandchildren get older, I buy them a watch. I think it's important for them to one, respect and accept the responsibility of owning a watch and two, know how to tell time on a dial watch, not a LCD display. As they get older they can upgrade to whatever watch they desire, but I consider a Timex to be a good, sturdy start for them."
"Just what I wanted"
"This replaces an older inidglo Expedition watch that no long indiglos. I preferred the larger 12-3-6-9 markings for being easier to read without my reading glasses. It also had hands with large arrowheads at the ends, making them easier to see. The new one isn't bad, but in this respect the old one was better. I managed a small scratch in the plastic "crystal", but have used clear packing tape to make a screen protector which I hope will help. The older one in all the decades I have owned it has not scratched; I expect it has an actual glass crystal. Since the "crystal" is molded it would have been nice to mold in a magnifying lens to make the date more easily readable. The old one still keeps time, but it no longer indiglos. I think the old one came with a plastic strap and whatever oils my skin produces seem to eat through soft plastic, so I am happy about the new fabric strap. Finally, I am not a fan of the triangle recess back cover screws. This adds an unnecessary cost and inconvenience to replacing the battery."
