Enhanced durability
Mineral crystals use a similar material to windowpane glass and were developed for watches as a harder alternative to acrylic. Mineral crystals are still susceptible to scratches but less so than acrylic, however it is not possible to buff out these scratches as it is with acrylic. Mineral glass is not as shatter resistant as acrylic but does offer greater transparency and clarity. Due to their improved scratch resistance versus acrylic, and improved shatter resistance versus sapphire, mineral is often considered to be the best of both worlds as a crystal material.

"I really like watch. The size is right. The metal case, light dial, date window, and indiglo feature are all exactly what wanted. What I really dislike is the thickness of the band. It’s stiff and doesn’t feel like leather; it feels like a thick piece of foam rubber with a thin leather surface. I’m going to swap it out as soon as I can."

- I have 1 of these, the Expeditioner,with indigo light, there is some florescent light on the hands and numbers, but the INDIGLO really stopped working
