From her early days as a watch specialist at a renowned jewelry broker to becoming one of the founding employees at HODINKEE, Cara Barrett’s passion for watches has always been her guiding compass. In 2021, she launched Parchie®, a fun and educational watch brand for children.
Following the success of our recent collab, today we have a guest blog post from Cara herself, sharing her top 5 favorite Timex picks for the season!
Welcome to my top five picks for the season! My name is Cara Barrett and if you don't know me I am a founder (of Parchie®) by day, mom by night, and watch freak somewhere in the middle. After launching my very own watch collaboration with Timex, I thought it would be fun to round up some of my *other* favorite Timex watches. So here you go!
If you know me, you know I love a good rainbow watch. I also love the Q Timex. Put the two together and you have the dream watch. The Q was first launched in the 1970s and was reissued in 2019 with much fanfare. Since then, it has continued to be a hit in a variety of colors and metals. For me, the Q Timex Rainbow is the perfect end of summer watch – fun, colorful, and easy to wear.
Timex T80 36mm Resin Strap (purple)
I am a child of the '80s, so naturally I am drawn to brightly colored watches. It’s just my thing – for now at least. The T80 36mm Resin Strap comes in three colors: pink, purple, and green. Personally, purple is my favorite. Some of my favorite things about this watch are the water-resistant resin strap (perfect for the beach) and the signature Timex INDIGLO® screen display.
Easy Reader Color Pop 30mm (Pink Gold)
Of course this list wouldn’t be complete without a cute, tiny, and simple time-only watch. The Easy Reader is a classic that truly never goes out of style, and smaller watches are having a moment right now for all wrist sizes (thanks to Tyler the Creator). The 30mm Easy Ready in any metal is perfect with any outfit. I prefer the pink gold-tone version with light pink strap, but that’s just me (can you tell I like pink?).
Easy Reader Day Date 35mm (Yellow Gold)
Following in the 30mm Easy Reader footsteps is the larger 35mm Easy Reader Day Date in gold-tone. It comes on my favorite expansion bracelet—that one Timex knows how to execute perfectly. The 35mm case is the Goldilocks (pun-intended) of watch sizes, never too big and never too small, and flattering on every wrist. Again, this Day Date has the trademark INDIGLO® so it’s a little bit dressy and a little bit sporty. There isn’t much else to say other than I love this one.
Timex T80 34mm (Gold-Tone or Steel)
I know, I know, I already listed the T80 on my top five but I couldn’t resist – the T80 is a classic. The 34mm digital display watch in steel or yellow gold-tone should be a staple in everyone’s watch arsenal. It harkens back to a nostalgic time where digital watches were all the rage, yet the design language remains current. I would wear this watch with blue jeans and a button down but honestly anything goes with the T80. You do you!
