Mineral crystals use a similar material to windowpane glass and were developed for watches as a harder alternative to acrylic. Mineral crystals are still susceptible to scratches but less so than acrylic, however it is not possible to buff out these scratches as it is with acrylic. Mineral glass is not as shatter resistant as acrylic but does offer greater transparency and clarity. Due to their improved scratch resistance versus acrylic, and improved shatter resistance versus sapphire, mineral is often considered to be the best of both worlds as a crystal material.

- i have a tw2y24100vq and the second hand does not move unless i press button a, and then only for a while then stops. watch is keeping time ok. how can i get the second hand to move?
- Hello Terry! For your Waterbury Heritage Chronograph 39mm Leather Strap Watch [TW2Y24100VQ], the second hand is actually part of the chronograph function. It will only move when you activate the stopwatch using the pushers. During normal timekeeping, this hand remains stationary while the watch keeps accurate time.
