Mineral crystals use a similar material to windowpane glass and were developed for watches as a harder alternative to acrylic. Mineral crystals are still susceptible to scratches but less so than acrylic, however it is not possible to buff out these scratches as it is with acrylic. Mineral glass is not as shatter resistant as acrylic but does offer greater transparency and clarity. Due to their improved scratch resistance versus acrylic, and improved shatter resistance versus sapphire, mineral is often considered to be the best of both worlds as a crystal material.

"Dial is great - I love everything about the hands and complications. The bracelet is also good enough for the price. I do have a problem with two things. One, the crystal is very easily scratched. I've worn it only a few times around the office and already have some scuffs. Second and less serious, the chronograph buttons do not have good action. However I wouldn't expect much from this price again."
"It’s a neat watch; great design, looks awesome and seems to be very robustly built. The flyback feature was one reason I got it and although it does work, it is surprisingly slow in returning to start. Not sure if that is practical for a real flyback application … but I’m not navigating by timing and direction so I guess I’ll be OK."
