Mineral crystals use a similar material to windowpane glass and were developed for watches as a harder alternative to acrylic. Mineral crystals are still susceptible to scratches but less so than acrylic, however it is not possible to buff out these scratches as it is with acrylic. Mineral glass is not as shatter resistant as acrylic but does offer greater transparency and clarity. Due to their improved scratch resistance versus acrylic, and improved shatter resistance versus sapphire, mineral is often considered to be the best of both worlds as a crystal material.

I really like that the large seconds hand is for time and the smaller sub-dial seconds hand at the 6 o’clock position is for the chronograph. I use the chrono mainly for cooking and grilling, so it works perfectly for me. The 24-hour sub-dial at the 2 o'clock position is nice for a quick glance at the a. m. / p. m. when setting the watch, plus just adds a cool detail to the watch. This Weekender is a easy recommendation for adding to your collection or simply to have to add to your daily rotation of wristwatches."
