Mineral crystals use a similar material to windowpane glass and were developed for watches as a harder alternative to acrylic. Mineral crystals are still susceptible to scratches but less so than acrylic, however it is not possible to buff out these scratches as it is with acrylic. "Love the watch. I wish it would have come with an extra few links. It's rather tight. Timex said I could send it back to add links, but that would have taken 3 to 4 months and they weren't able to just mail me the links. That was weird. But the design and quality is very nice."
