Acrylic lens are a specialised form of plastic akin to Plexiglass and were commonly used in early to mid-20th century watches. It is a softer material that can be more prone to scratches but conversely is very shatter-resistant. Given its softness any scratches though can be buffed out. "Once worn for 48 hours so the self winding mechanism could come up to full potential, the watch provides very accurate time and does not stop working at night when it is taken off before going to sleep. However, if your eyesight is less than stellar, the hands are not quite as easy to see as in the pictures - I might try the silver backed one were I to do this again or lose my watch. But with readers it's easy to see. One criticism: I had to go to youtube to learn how to make the band smaller - the watch should come with paper instructions for that and I couldn't find the instructions on Timex's website. There are a few youtube videos related to bands similar to this one, so make sure you see at least a few viddies before you try. For this watch, you depress the inside (wrist facing) of one of the links in the rigid section of the band."

"I love this watch,. . great looking. If you are concerned 34mm might be to small, IMHO it's not. The square shape the lugs really wears larger on the wrist,, reminds me of a38mm round watch. Keeping solid time even when off the wrist overnight. Expansion band links release works as advertised, Highly recommend this."

And the vintage size is perfect—I know big watches are in, but this wears beautifully on both a 7” wrist and 6” if the smaller wrist is wanting something more substantial. (It wears similarly to my husband’s inherited 80s Datejust. ) The expansion band looks great, but is a pinchy hair-ripper, so we swapped it out for a leather strap. I’m going to keep my eye out for a bracelet with a similar feel to the expansion band. If you’re on the fence; get the watch!"
