Mineral crystals use a similar material to windowpane glass and were developed for watches as a harder alternative to acrylic. Mineral crystals are still susceptible to scratches but less so than acrylic, however it is not possible to buff out these scratches as it is with acrylic. Mineral glass is not as shatter resistant as acrylic but does offer greater transparency and clarity. Due to their improved scratch resistance versus acrylic, and improved shatter resistance versus sapphire, mineral is often considered to be the best of both worlds as a crystal material.

"Beautiful finishing on dial, GMT dial is perfectly legible. The GMT dial background white is a different shade than the dial - would look much more high end if it were matched. Also, consider an empty circle in the middle of the minute hand, so you can read the GMT even if the minute hand is at 6 o'clock position. Overall, though, wonderful watch for the price!"
"Let me start by saying I have purchased over 12 Timex watches in the past couple of years. and this has got to be one of the most underrated watches in their lineup - A GMT with a simple, elegant face, extremely thin profile, subtle wrist presence and all-day comfort. The only downside I can think of are the Band Loops which are quite thick and do take away from the overall thin feel of the watch, but that is easily remedied with an omega-style deployant clasp to hide the excess rubber strap. Timex, if you're listening, that might be a good idea for the future with your rubber straps so the watches stay low-profile ;) . But all in all, I am incredibly happy with this purchase and I look forward to seeing what else Timex comes out with"
