It captures the sophisticated charm of an iconic electric timepiece from that era, but it’s modernized with an ultra-precise quartz movement for impeccable timekeeping. The 36mm case has been upgraded to sturdy stainless-steel and equipped with a friction-fit aluminum top ring with an elapsed time scale specifically crafted to track and measure elapsed time with precision. The dial is a visual ode to the famed checkered flag that signals victory on the racetrack, while the tapered contour of the sweep second hand mirrors a speedometer needle. Complemented by a period-correct domed acrylic crystal and applied hour markers that catch light, the dial offers elegance while ensuring legibility. To top it off, we’ve paired it with a brushed and polished stainless-steel bracelet that’s confident and cool.

Acrylic Crystal
A lightweight plastic polymer with excellent impact resistance and a warm vintage appearance that can be easily polished to remove scuffs.
Acrylic Crystal
Highly impact-resistant
Acrylic lens are a specialised form of plastic akin to Plexiglass and were commonly used in early to mid-20th century watches. It is a softer material that can be more prone to scratches but conversely is very shatter-resistant. Given its softness any scratches though can be buffed out. Acrylic lens are synonymous with vintage-inspired timepieces and thus can be found on our Marlin and Q Timex collections.

Q&A
Is it possible to adjust the bracelet for wrists with a 14 cm circumference?
Hello Enrique! Thank you for asking about bracelet sizing. The band for this watch can be adjusted to fit wrists between 150 – 205 mm (5.9 – 8.1 in). Since your wrist circumference is 14 cm (140 mm), unfortunately it would be too small for this model’s adjustment range.
Anymore JFK watches

Does Timex have a luxury watch line more like out for dinner or a very nice evening wine?
Hi Chris! If you’re looking for a more formal and elegant option, I recommend checking out the Timex Marlin® Automatic collection or the Timex Luxe Gifts through this link: https://timex.com/collections/luxe-gifts?srsltid=AfmBOoodjtZkORvlewTdBiu4Yutni7hmHfhQyTsRoA2xaYZHn0dpVbTM. What is the new battery hatch design? Used to be able to open battery hatch with a coin or a screwdriver. How do we open the battery cover that has 2 side cutouts?
Hi there Benjamin! Thanks for reaching out about the Q Timex® 1971 Velocity. The updated battery hatch design still allows for user access, and you can open it using a flathead screwdriver or the edge of a coin, just like before. The two side cutouts are part of the new styling but don’t change the basic method—just align your tool with the slot and gently twist to open.
