Mineral crystals use a similar material to windowpane glass and were developed for watches as a harder alternative to acrylic. Mineral glass is not as shatter resistant as acrylic but does offer greater transparency and clarity. Due to their improved scratch resistance versus acrylic, and improved shatter resistance versus sapphire, mineral is often considered to be the best of both worlds as a crystal material.

"My wife was tickled, I was not. I guess for the price, Over $100, Iwas paying for the Peanuts License and not the watch. It could of at least come with a decent box for storing it in when not in use. I guess we will see if it holds up more than a year. Tempted to give it 2 stars but my wife loved it for Snoopy and Baseball"
