Mechanical Automatic
Powered by You
A mechanical automatic movement winds itself using the natural motion of your wrist — a rotor inside spins as you move, storing energy in a mainspring. This spring slowly releases power through a precise series of gears and an escapement, driving the hands in a smooth, sweeping motion. It’s a self-sustaining engine, no battery required. When worn daily, it stays powered continuously — keeping perfect time without needing to be reset.

Acrylic Crystal
A lightweight plastic polymer with excellent impact resistance and a warm vintage appearance that can be easily polished to remove scuffs.
Acrylic Crystal
Highly impact-resistant
Acrylic lens are a specialised form of plastic akin to Plexiglass and were commonly used in early to mid-20th century watches. It is a softer material that can be more prone to scratches but conversely is very shatter-resistant. Given its softness any scratches though can be buffed out. Acrylic lens are synonymous with vintage-inspired timepieces and thus can be found on our Marlin and Q Timex collections.

"I started getting serious about watches a few years ago and lately I have been leaning towards field watches. The mk1 automatic is a great addition, it's simple no day/date, not a bad thing at all. I love that the case is brushed not polished. The only thing I would have changed is a sapphire crystal instead of acrylic but not a deal breaker. Lately I have been switching between my Hamilton field and the mk1 which is a compliment for timex!"

Awesome watch, this is my
"Awesome watch, this is my second watch from timex, first was the orange deepwater diver, that was good, but in my opinion this one was even better. Strap was comfortable but I put mine on a braclet and it looks pretty sharp. Good watch and the movement is keeping good time. The proportions work really well with this watch. The acrylic crystal is charming with the way it distorts the dial from different angles giving this a real retro feel. Overall clean dial and great field watch."

An incredibly well made and
"An incredibly well made and proportioned watch with proper respect paid to military field watches of the past. The quality of the dial is stunning: even on close inspection the crisp dimensional printing looks amazing on the lightly textured matte black, almost dark gray, dial. The case is slim even for an automatic and the finishing on the case is simple but well done. The case graining is spotty in some places, the tri wing screws look slightly rounded in the slots, and I wish Timex had used white hands instead of the polished steel for ultimate readability. Overall this is an amazing value and one of the best field watches you can get based on the design alone."

I found what I had
"I found what I had been looking for in a solid, rugged, no nonsense watch with this MK-1. The dial is very easy to read and is uncluttered with unnecessary additions making for a remarkably minimalistic timepiece. The fact that it is a Timex gives me confidence that I will enjoy this beautiful and historic watch for many years to come. I’m so glad that I chose this watch to be a trusty companion in my day to day life."

"Love my new MK1 watch, it's sleek, clear, and a pleasure to wear and view. I'm really a great fan of the timex watches in general, but this is now my favourite."

This is a fantastic time
"This is a fantastic time piece! Attractive, easy to read, thought and light for what it is. I own dozens of high-end watches - but this has been on my wrist the most for the past half a year. Solid enough that I bought two more - one for my 14 year old son and one to keep in reserve. FANTASTIC!"

"Overall awesome watch, Like the look and feel. Only part so far I am surprised by or maybe not used to, from my other automatic watches, is that you will hear pretty clear the rotor moving. Not a big deal overall but it is noticable."

Q&A
I just bought the MK1 military automatic. model # TW2Y07800 My question is: Can I wind this myself and can it be over-wound and break the springs?
Hi Ronald! Thank you for choosing the MK1® Automatic 40mm Fabric Strap Watch. Yes, you can manually wind the watch yourself by turning the crown clockwise to help start or maintain the movement when it has not been worn for a while. The watch is designed with protection against overwinding during normal use, so you do not need to worry about breaking the springs as long as the crown is handled gently and not forced once resistance is felt. We hope you enjoy your new automatic watch!
You say its a japanese movement. Which one is it?
Hello J. J.! Thank you for your question about the MK1 Automatic 40mm. This model is powered by a Miyota automatic movement with 21 jewels. Miyota movements are known for their reliability and consistent performance. We hope this gives you added confidence in its craftsmanship.
Is it possible to buy one of these olive straps?
Hi Aaron! All our watches are sold as shown in the product images, so we don’t sell the bracelets separately. .
On the mk1 mechanical, what is the power reserve? 40 hrs?
Hi Rafael! Thank you for your question about the MK1® Automatic. This model has a power reserve of approximately 42 hours when fully wound. That means once fully charged through wear or manual winding, it can run for nearly two days without additional movement. If you have any other questions about its performance, we’re happy to help.
Hello, my husband has a nickel allergy. Is there any nickel in the watch or watch band buckle? Thanks
Hi Jessica! Thank you for asking about materials and sensitivities—it’s such an important detail when choosing a watch. Timex uses stainless steel in many of its cases and bracelets. If you have a known nickel allergy, we recommend consulting with a jeweler or dermatologist to ensure stainless steel is suitable for you, or considering alternative materials that may be more comfortable for sensitive skin.
