Enhanced durability
Mineral crystals use a similar material to windowpane glass and were developed for watches as a harder alternative to acrylic. Mineral crystals are still susceptible to scratches but less so than acrylic, however it is not possible to buff out these scratches as it is with acrylic. Mineral glass is not as shatter resistant as acrylic but does offer greater transparency and clarity. Due to their improved scratch resistance versus acrylic, and improved shatter resistance versus sapphire, mineral is often considered to be the best of both worlds as a crystal material.

"I have many nice watches but this serves a purpose . Eg. If I go to Disney I don’t have to worry or take off if I get in the pool . One of the best watches to read the dial even in bright sunlight . Plus I had original indiglo. Love that aspect at night. I would pay more money if you had sapphire crystal and 20 bar (200 m) Plus all important indiglo"

- I bought one of these at a thrift shop, but the bezel does rotate and it has a dark face, that looks dark green with the indiglow, I bought a stainless steel band for it and it’s a great watch. Any idea what it is? It looks the same but the bezel rotates and it has the dark face. It looks brand new but I’m sure it’s at least a few years old.
