Mineral crystals use a similar material to windowpane glass and were developed for watches as a harder alternative to acrylic. Mineral crystals are still susceptible to scratches but less so than acrylic, however it is not possible to buff out these scratches as it is with acrylic. Mineral glass is not as shatter resistant as acrylic but does offer greater transparency and clarity. Due to their improved scratch resistance versus acrylic, and improved shatter resistance versus sapphire, mineral is often considered to be the best of both worlds as a crystal material.

"I should have researched more. The watch does not have date window. The stopwatch button does NOT control the sweep second hand. Stopwatch seconds is indicated by the small dial at 6 o’clock, unlike by the large sweep hand as normally expected. Luminous dial and hands fairly good. Price OK. Chronographs in general, across manufacturers, have declined in recent years. My 50 year old Omega Speedmaster still hard to beat."

Saw the Peanuts watch offer and hesitated with price higher than I wanted but said oh heck buy it The watch is easy to read, fits great and looks like a million. Doesn't get any better than Snoopy and Woodstock. Don't forget quartz movement."

- Why wouldn't an 'expedition' watch have the indiglo feature?
- Hello Kent! Great question — and we love how observant you are. While many Expedition® models do include our signature Indiglo® backlight, the Capstone 39mm Silicone Strap Watch is a bit different. It doesn’t feature Indiglo®, but it does come with luminous hands and markers that glow in low light, offering visibility without the push-button illumination. It’s designed to keep things simple and rugged for outdoor adventures!

- Hello Brady! That's a great question, and thank you for considering our Expedition® Capstone 39mm for your rides. While the entire Expedition line is built to be very durable for outdoor adventures—living up to our "takes a licking" heritage—it isn't technically rated as "shock resistant" for high-impact situations. It should hold up just fine to standard road vibrations, but it's not specifically designed to absorb heavy, repeated shocks.
