Enhanced durability
Mineral crystals use a similar material to windowpane glass and were developed for watches as a harder alternative to acrylic. Mineral crystals are still susceptible to scratches but less so than acrylic, however it is not possible to buff out these scratches as it is with acrylic. Mineral glass is not as shatter resistant as acrylic but does offer greater transparency and clarity. Due to their improved scratch resistance versus acrylic, and improved shatter resistance versus sapphire, mineral is often considered to be the best of both worlds as a crystal material.

"The perfect mens watch. No bells and whistles, just an easy to read face with bold numbers and bold hands. The day date complication is perfect for this layout. Add in water proof and indiglo and you will be hard pressed to find a watch with these features for hundreds more, and they may or may not be up to snuff. As it’s a Timex, I know it’s durable enough to keep up with my day to day tasks. Well done Timex, keep up the good work."
