Mineral crystals use a similar material to windowpane glass and were developed for watches as a harder alternative to acrylic. Mineral crystals are still susceptible to scratches but less so than acrylic, however it is not possible to buff out these scratches as it is with acrylic. Mineral glass is not as shatter resistant as acrylic but does offer greater transparency and clarity. Due to their improved scratch resistance versus acrylic, and improved shatter resistance versus sapphire, mineral is often considered to be the best of both worlds as a crystal material.

- On the strap there is a matching light blue band to hold the strap in place and a black band that says Timex that is rubber or similar material. Is the black one meant to be discarded? The light blue one doesn't slide so I do worry that the extra piece of band will not stay flat.
