Enhanced durability
Mineral crystals use a similar material to windowpane glass and were developed for watches as a harder alternative to acrylic. Mineral crystals are still susceptible to scratches but less so than acrylic, however it is not possible to buff out these scratches as it is with acrylic. Mineral glass is not as shatter resistant as acrylic but does offer greater transparency and clarity. Due to their improved scratch resistance versus acrylic, and improved shatter resistance versus sapphire, mineral is often considered to be the best of both worlds as a crystal material.

"Went online at Timex to see what options there were to replace my longtime, everyday Timex that served me well thru many years. Online, this watch looked very similar in face size and color, features, thinness, and the gold color. In-person, I'm not disappointed. Face size is 35mm, thickness is only 8mm so it won't be getting in the way or bumped around as much in my daily activities. It could work as my dress watch, too, for a while at least, until I get into a few more home and yard projects this Spring."

"The watch itself is fine. My dissatisfaction with my purchase was the result of my own inattention to detail. I have purchased several timex watches, some for gifts, in the past, when you sold watches at retail stores. I had previously never seen, over many years, a timex watch with a gold colored case around the watch face, so I hadn’t realized that the watch I purchased was gold colored. I really prefer the silver color. In addition, it is only when I zoomed on the watch band itself that I saw it was a crocodile style band. I thought it was a plain band, which I would have preferred. In the future, I will be more careful when making a purchase. I purchased the watch using my phone, but will use my laptop going forward so that I can see the watch more clearly. It would be great to provide more description of the watch itself and maybe it would have prevented me from making this mistake again."
