Enhanced durability
Mineral crystals use a similar material to windowpane glass and were developed for watches as a harder alternative to acrylic. Mineral crystals are still susceptible to scratches but less so than acrylic, however it is not possible to buff out these scratches as it is with acrylic. Mineral glass is not as shatter resistant as acrylic but does offer greater transparency and clarity. Due to their improved scratch resistance versus acrylic, and improved shatter resistance versus sapphire, mineral is often considered to be the best of both worlds as a crystal material.

"The timex ladies indiglo watch has been my "go to" time keeper for many years. Important features are a 2nd hand, with second marks on the dial, and water resistance. Nice size watch, with choice of watch bands, including ss easy-on stretch. My latest purchase had a small enough band so that I did not even have to remove links."
