Enhanced durability
Mineral crystals use a similar material to windowpane glass and were developed for watches as a harder alternative to acrylic. Mineral crystals are still susceptible to scratches but less so than acrylic, however it is not possible to buff out these scratches as it is with acrylic. Mineral glass is not as shatter resistant as acrylic but does offer greater transparency and clarity. Due to their improved scratch resistance versus acrylic, and improved shatter resistance versus sapphire, mineral is often considered to be the best of both worlds as a crystal material.

"I love this watch. I recently started collecting inexpensive watches sub $500. I was looking for a NY Giants one. But not Gaidy. This fit the bill. Works well a bit hard for me to see the date with these old eyes. Only criticism is it took a few weeks to get. I was surprised it shipped from the Philipines. Once shipped tho I got it fast. I have no idea what will happen as far as tarrifs go. But it's a great value."
