Most Timex watches come with a water-resistant rating of: 30m (meters), 50m, 100m or 200m. Here are the activities each of those ratings allow:

30m: Washing hands
50m: Washing hands, Light swimming
100m: Washing hands, Light swimming, Snorkelling, Poolside Diving, Surfing
200m: Washing hands, Light swimming, Snorkelling, Poolside Diving, Surfing, Recreational Scuba Diving

What are the differences between watch crystal (or glass) materials?

Timex offers three different materials of watch crystal (the lens/glass that covers and protects the watch dial). Those materials are: Acrylic, Mineral and Sapphire.

The type of watch crystal can be found under “Specs” on each product page.

Acrylic
Acrylic crystals are a specialised form of plastic. It is a soft material that can be prone to scratches but conversely is very shatter-resistant. Given its softness any scratches can be buffed out.

Mineral Glass
Mineral crystals use a similar material to windowpane glass. They are still susceptible to scratches but less so than acrylic, however it is not possible to buff out these scratches as it is with acrylic. Mineral glass is not as shatter resistant as acrylic, but does offer greater transparency and clarity. Due to their improved scratch resistance versus acrylic, and improved shatter resistance versus sapphire, mineral is often considered to be the best of both worlds as a crystal material.

Sapphire
Sapphire is the hardest crystal available. Given its hardness it is near impossible to scratch, however, it can be prone to shattering if subjected to a heavy impact.

The watch case width or diameter measurement is featured in the product name of every Timex watch and under the “Specs” section of each product page. Measurements are in millimeters and range from 29mm (small kids watches) to 53mm (oversized digital watches).

What is the difference between quartz, automatic and hand-wound (mechanical) watch movements?

Hand-wound (manual) movements are mechanical movements comprised of gears, wheels and springs housed within the watch case. The watch is powered by winding the crown which stores energy that the watch uses to turn the hands. The power stored though does run out and requires winding daily in order to keep the watch ticking.

Automatic (or self-winding) movements are similarly mechanical movements but do not require daily-winding (though most can still be hand-wound). They are powered by the movement of the wearer’s wrist throughout normal everyday activity. The movement of the wrist turns the rotor which winds the mainspring and the stores the watches’ energy.

Quartz watches are battery-powered movements versus mechanical power. The quartz crystal in the movement is powered via an electrical current from a battery. Quartz movements are very reliable at keeping time and may only lose a few seconds a month compared to several minutes of a mechanical movement.

What is the exchange rate applied?

The returns fee will be deducted from your return, return fees differ by location. Duty costs are included in our international return label. Your TIMEX® watch is warrantied against manufacturing defects by Timex Group USA, Inc. for a period of ONE YEAR from the original purchase date. Timex and its worldwide affiliates will honor this International Warranty.

To obtain warranty service, return your watch to an authorized Timex repair center with a receipt for proof of purchase, clearly showing the date, item purchased, and the retailer from which the purchase was made.

Warranty service is only honored on watches purchased directly from authorized retailers. Second-hand or private sales will not be honored. In warranty repairs are at no charge; however, a handling fee will be charged.

Repair requests received without proof of purchase will be processed as an out-of-warranty repair and will incur out-of-warranty charges.

For in-warranty and out-of-warranty repairs, Timex may, at its option, repair your watch by installing new or thoroughly reconditioned and inspected components.

For in-warranty repairs that are no longer repairable due to unavailability of parts or components, we may at our option replace the watch with an identical model or a model with like or similar features.

Out-of-warranty watches that are no longer repairable due to the unavailability of parts or components will be returned as received and no cost will be charged.
