A good field watch prioritizes utility—combining functionality, resilience, and reliability to perform with precision and get the job done. But a great field watch? Well, that’s a watch that’s not only hardworking, but handsome on the wrist.

Timex and The James Brand are back with a new collaboration, this time taking a more refined approach to typical field watch design. A limited-edition of only 1000, the Timex x James Brand GMT departs from the usual rugged silhouette seen in most tactical watches, sporting a more formal aesthetic with a sleek, 41mm barrel-shaped case. Rendered in hard-wearing titanium, it offers solid durability while remaining lightweight and comfortable.

Powering this watch is a 9075 Miyota premium automatic "true" GMT movement that allows you to adjust both the prominent yellow GMT hand and the main hour hand independently to track different time zones as you pursue new horizons. And because the GMT index is featured on both the reflector ring and the unidirectional rotating top ring, this watch can easily track a third time zone at the same time. The top ring also features a subtle grey and black color contrast—with grey denoting nighttime hours and black indicating daylight hours—punctuated by the degree symbol of the TJB logo in luminescent yellow at the 24th hour.

With the unpredictable nature of travel in mind, the Timex x James Brand GMT is equipped with quick-release spring bars for easy strap changes while you’re on the move. It includes two versatile attachment options: a titanium bracelet with butterfly closure and a perforated resin strap with a titanium buckle. And if the opportunity to step off-shore should arise, this watch is also built to handle water pressures of up to 20 atmospheres with 200m of water resistance.

Standing out beautifully against the black leveled-down dial are tapered hands and applied indices with Super-LumiNova® in-fill for enhanced readability, complemented by a convenient date window at 3 o’clock. All of this is housed underneath a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating for ultimate clarity.

Flip the watch over, and you’ll find that it’s fortified with a screw-down caseback engraved with the edition number. You’ll also discover a TJB-branded sapphire crystal exhibition window that reveals the intricate 24-jewel automatic movement. Reinforcing the case’s durability is a screw-down crown—highlighted by the same degree symbol on the bezel—that effectively keeps dirt, dust, and moisture out.

All in all, the Timex x James Brand GMT is a tough, dependable, and downright beautiful watch. But, it’s more than just a timekeeping tool—it's a statement of intention and remaining fully present in each moment. As Ryan Coulter, Founder and Chief Creative Officer of The James Brand, puts it: "Any ability to get people to use their phone less is a success for us." So, the next time you’re out there making your way in the world and you find yourself reaching for your phone to check the time, remember: You’ve got the answer on your wrist.

Apart from its availability on, the Timex x James Brand Expedition North GMT is part of a 3-piece collection offered exclusively by The James Brand and Huckberry, which includes a corresponding titanium pocket knife and pen.
