In the morning chaos of 1980s New York City, where the E subway line faithfully carried commuters to Wall Street, the Timex Automatic made its debut as a classic dress watch that kept you looking sharp all week long. Now, we’ve reimagined it for the modern grind, upgrading its construction to stainless-steel and powering it with a 21-jewel Japanese automatic movement that brings the first automatic to our line of reissues.
The Timex Automatic 1983 E Line Reissue has a minimalistic design that seamlessly fits into the relentless rhythm of the 9-5, distinguished by a rounded square case shape and affectionately dubbed the ‘TV Dial.’ On the dial, distinct applied indices mark the hours, complemented by a simple printed minute track.
Completing its smooth profile is a brushed and polished stainless-steel expansion band that stays true to the design of the original, but now enhanced with our Perfect Fit technology that requires no tools for sizing. Other details include a vintage-style raised flat acrylic crystal, circular brushing on the top of the case, a discreet date window integrated into the clean dial at 3 o’clock, and 50m of water resistance.
