Timex Enters Web3 with Custom One-of-One Watch and NFTs
Created by the Bored Ape and Mutant Ape CommunityTimex has officially entered Web3 with a first-ever collection of single edition watches and corresponding digital twin NFTs, exclusively available to members of the Bored Ape and Mutant Ape community. In addition to being the first of its kind, the collaboration marks the first time in history Timex has offered a watch that can be personalized. Each custom-created digital collectible and hand-assembled watch is in our iconic Timex Waterbury Classic design to showcase the holder's Ape or Mutant on full display. Holders have endless options to customize their timepiece even further with over 40 selections of cases, straps, and etchings, some of which were specially created for the collection. Hype around the watches has already started within the BAYC community, with long-term member Josh Ong sharing his excitement for the drop. €œFrom customizing the digital collectible and unboxing the physical watch to flexing at Ape Fest, these incredible timepieces will delight Ape holders and keep them guessing at surprises yet to come.€ And with only 500 watches ever available, we've got to admit that it's a collab worth going bananas over. If you're unfamiliar with the clan of primates making up these coveted NFTs, here are a few key things to know about them:
- They're an example of generative art created using an autonomous system. In other words, each Ape is generated at random, from its facial expression and accessories to the color of its background.
- Best-known for their eccentric, off-beat fashions and unfiltered expressions, it's safe to say they're not your standard apes.
- We don't want to name drop, but a number of notable celebrities have bought into the BAYC community since it first launched in April 2021.
