Enhanced durability
Mineral crystals use a similar material to windowpane glass and were developed for watches as a harder alternative to acrylic. Mineral crystals are still susceptible to scratches but less so than acrylic, however it is not possible to buff out these scratches as it is with acrylic. Mineral glass is not as shatter resistant as acrylic but does offer greater transparency and clarity. Due to their improved scratch resistance versus acrylic, and improved shatter resistance versus sapphire, mineral is often considered to be the best of both worlds as a crystal material.

"Pros: soft band, comfortable, easy to take on and off; easy to set time and date. Love the way it looks, I'm a teacher and this watch works for both work and weekends for me. Cons: band was way too long for my wrist (I used fabric scissors to cut, and it looks fine); don't like the way the magnifier bubble looks and it doesn't make the date easier to see, in my opinion. I've only had it a couple weeks, so I've got no idea on the battery life yet."
