Mineral crystals use a similar material to windowpane glass and were developed for watches as a harder alternative to acrylic. Mineral crystals are still susceptible to scratches but less so than acrylic, however it is not possible to buff out these scratches as it is with acrylic. Mineral glass is not as shatter resistant as acrylic but does offer greater transparency and clarity. "Our 11-year-old Grandson chose this watch for his birthday gift from us after looking at all of the Timex "Peanuts" Collection. He loves Christmas and wanted to wear the holiday all year long! Absolutely beautiful watch and very high quality. . . it has to be for an 11-year-old boy. The Indiglo feature is so cool. It lights the snow beneath Snoopy's feet.
