It is a softer material that can be more prone to scratches but conversely is very shatter-resistant. Given its softness any scratches though can be buffed out. "A beautiful little watch. For a while I had been looking for a small watch, that was as close as I could get to a Second World War US military issued watch. Most modern versions of those watches are too big,but this one feels just right. The fact it's also mechanical is a bonus as it helps keep the watch case slim. It would be nice if the movement was an American made one, instead of what I believe to be a Chinese Seagull mechanical movement, but perhaps in the future that may change."

"One of the better releases of TimeX. For the money, dial construction is good, handset quality is good, case construction is good. they've also got the proportions just right. 36mm is goldilocks. After the last two decades of larger diameter watch trends, I am glad to see that TimeX is finally jumping on the more elegant vintage 36mm trend. Only thing I remove one star for is its movement. Although mechanical is one of the main reasons that i decided to buy this watch, but please, at least put a minimum Miyota 8210 with hacking in there. Seagull St6 is infamously unreliable with horrible isochronism."
