Acrylic Crystal
A lightweight plastic polymer with excellent impact resistance and a warm vintage appearance that can be easily polished to remove scuffs.
Acrylic Crystal
Highly impact-resistant
Acrylic lens are a specialised form of plastic akin to Plexiglass and were commonly used in early to mid-20th century watches. It is a softer material that can be more prone to scratches but conversely is very shatter-resistant. Given its softness any scratches though can be buffed out. Acrylic lens are synonymous with vintage-inspired timepieces and thus can be found on our Marlin and Q Timex collections.

The original Marlin watches first stepped into the spotlight in the 1950s and matured into a centerpiece of Timex’s broader collection in the 1960s. Today's Marlin collection draws inspiration from that era, pulling both from Timex archives and '60s culture more generally.
Marlin is pure 1960s cool, delivering substance and style in equal measure, with unwavering swagger. Timeless and sophisticated, it's a watch that captures the best of the past while continuing to push Timex’s legacy of style, disruption, and quality into the future.
Our Promise for the Next 170 Years
Since 1854, no other watchmaker has ever been able to match our ability to put a well-crafted watch on your wrist, while leaving money in your pocket. Every Timex is a testament to our legendary durability and value, and a reminder to make time yours.
"It’s a good looking watch with great color combination between the face and band. Somewhat unique and eye catching, it wears nicely and shows well on the wrist. The band leather is soft and pliable contributing to an overall very comfortable fit. The only negative is that the lens is very, very easy to scratch with the slightest bump. Timex can improve a nice watch by making the lens even partially scratch resistant. Otherwise, it’s a great watch and I highly recommend it."

"Its a beautiful watch. It took me alittle bit to get used to the the hand for the time zone as it's based off 24 hour day, but now after getting used to it I actually like it better than the 12 hour GMT that I have."

First impressions. . . . The watch is
"First impressions. . . . The watch is lightweight, light duty. The strap is light and feels like it might not hold to the wrist. The look is OK. Not great but sufficient for the model. The polished case looks nice and wears well. The dial's contrasting blue colors are quite muted. There are a few things Timex could do to dress up the watch a bit, such as applied indices, adding depth to the dial, and a more substantial strap. The watch is iconic but when rereleasing an old model, either make it exactly the same as it was, or make it the current year version - a hot take on a classic. I will recommend it for those who like the Marlin series and want a basic watch to add to their collection."
— Gregory S. (3/5)

"I have bought several mechanical watches from timex and think the brand is really killing it lately in their design, so congratulations on moving in the right direction! However, I forgot to look and assumed all the marlins were automatics. I was bummed when I realized it was a quartz movement. That’s on me. It’s a pretty watch. I wish it were an automatic."

Stylish without looking too busy.
"Stylish without looking too busy. Beautifully balanced design. Another solid piece from Timex, among the 20 or so I’ve purchased. (I’ve never met a Marlin I didn’t like!)"
— Paul M. (5/5)
Stylish, attractive, well constructed watch.
"Stylish, attractive, well constructed watch. It could use more luminescence, especially on the GMT pointer, hour, and minute hands."

Q&A
Is this a "traveler" GMT, i.e. the hour hand can be set independently? Also, what is the thickness?
Hi Bob! Thanks for reaching out. The Marlin® Quartz GMT 40mm features a caller GMT movement, which means the GMT hand used to track a second time zone can be set independently while the main hour hand stays fixed. It’s a reliable and stylish option for keeping tabs on multiple time zones, and the watch has a thickness of 13mm.
Is Marlin indigo? I’d like to see the dial in the dark. High lume indigo is important.
Hi Jim! Unfortunately, this specific model doesn't feature Indiglo. However, we have several stunning Timex watches that do! Would you like me to help you find one with easy nighttime readability? For more details and other features, check out the product page.
The idea of the watch is a good one, I would be happy to see it in a field style with Cristal glass and haki woven band, rich use of luminous on wide hands and the hours numbers.
Hi Modi! Thanks so much for the suggestion! I absolutely love the idea and I'll definitely pass your idea along to our product team. We always appreciate hearing what our customers would love to see!
Great watch. Can I purchase an extra strap? I cannot find it listed.
Hello Jeff! Thank you so much for reaching out with your question about the Marlin® Quartz GMT 40mm Leather Strap Watch. Yes, you can absolutely purchase an extra strap for your watch.
