Sapphire Crystal
Nearly impossible to scratch, the sapphire crystal lens is as hard and clear as a gemstone. There are only a few materials known to the world that can scratch it.
Sapphire Crystal
Scratch-resistant
Sapphire is the hardest crystal available. Given its hardness it is near impossible to scratch, however, it can be prone to shattering if subjected to a heavy impact. Its scratch resistance is very desirable and as such there is a higher cost to sapphire versus other crystals.

"Simple, tough, and capable. . . but the bezel on mine was installed a half-click off center. Has no effect on the general functioning of the watch (which is great); something like that might annoy some, others might not care."

This is an excellent watch
"This is an excellent watch for the price. The stainless case is solid and has a lovely titanium finish, the crown screws down smoothly and the 120 click bezel doesn’t feel cheap at all. The sapphire crystal has a nice “thunk” when tapped with a fingernail and feels thick. The dial is very legible and the “keeper-less” strap design is minimalist and modern looking. I would rate it 5 stars if it weren’t for the fact that the lume on the hands isn’t good. I know it’s marketed as being SuperLuminova, and I have no reason to doubt that, but it needs to be applied thicker or something because reading the time in the dark is pretty much impossible. HOWEVER, I do not regret my purchase at all and will recommend it to anyone looking for a nice quality diving watch for a reasonable price, there’s just some room for improvement."

Q&A
Does the watch need to be pressure tested after a battery replacement?
Hello Don! Thanks for reaching out. Since the Deepwater Reef 200 is designed for 200m water resistance, it’s generally recommended to have it pressure tested after a battery replacement to ensure the integrity of its seals. This helps maintain its water resistance and ensures it’s safe for underwater use. If you’re unsure, I’d suggest having a professional watch technician perform the replacement and testing. Let me know if you need any further details!
Am interested in the Timex Deepwater Reef (no date model). Have 2 questions. 1. Why do some models shown have a red insignia in the lower half of watch...and some do not? 2. Some have commented that the hour markers are very luminous, while the hour and minute hands are not. Can you clarify? Thank you.
Hi Craig! Great question. The red insignia detail can vary depending on the batch or version of the model—some include it, while others don’t. As for the luminosity, the watch features Super-Luminova® hands and hour markers, so you’ll have that reliable glow whether you’re out adventuring or just checking the time in low light. Let me know if there’s anything else I can help with!
Can I replace the sport closure band with a traditional loop band? The sport closure has known issues.
Hi Hugh! Yes, the strap on the Deepwater Reef 200 41mm Synthetic Rubber Strap Watch is interchangeable. You can replace it with any strap that has the same lug width for a customized look. Let me know if you have any other questions!
How long does the battery last
Hi Simon! Thanks for reaching out.
