Mineral crystals use a similar material to windowpane glass and were developed for watches as a harder alternative to acrylic. Mineral crystals are still susceptible to scratches but less so than acrylic, however it is not possible to buff out these scratches as it is with acrylic. Mineral glass is not as shatter resistant as acrylic but does offer greater transparency and clarity. "This is a very impressive watch for the money. The first thing that stands out is the aluminum dial as it radiates from the center of the Oklahoma State logo in the sunlight. While this particular model watch does not have Indiglo, the time is dead-on accurate, and the Cowboy Orange silicone strap makes it stand out, especially if you have on other OSU gear. Pictures of the watch don’t do it justice. The strap is very beefy, yet comfortable. Perfect for game days, whether at Boone Pickens Stadium or Gallagher-Iba Arena. This is my third Timex watch so far, and ranks as my current favorite."
